The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts (SAMFA) presents a dynamic schedule of current and upcoming exhibitions featuring regional, national, and international artists. Located in downtown San Angelo, Texas, SAMFA showcases rotating exhibitions, permanent collection highlights, and special loan exhibitions throughout the year. Gallery admission is free for all visitors.

Spirit of the Ranch: The Ranch Fellowship Exhibit
Through March 22, 2026
This exhibition features a curated selection of works by the 2025 EnPleinAir TEXAS Ranch Fellowship Artists: Kirsten Anderson, Zufar Bikbov, Lon Brauer, Durre Waseem, and Jeff Williams. The exhibition highlights contemporary approaches to landscape and ranch-inspired art created in West Texas.

A Texas Legacy: Gifts from the Bill and Mary Cheek Collection
January 22 – March 22, 2026
Beginning in 2010, art collectors and patrons Bill and Mary Cheek played a pivotal role in building the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts’ collection of early Texas art. This exhibition honors Bill Cheek’s legacy and celebrates decades of generosity to SAMFA’s permanent collection, archives, and library.
The exhibition features approximately 60 works of early Texas art from SAMFA’s Permanent Collection, including paintings, prints, and historical works donated by Bill and Mary Cheek.
Special Loan Exhibition
On view at the Official Residence of the European Union’s Ambassador to the United States, Washington, D.C.
Selected ceramic works and paintings from the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts Permanent Collection are currently on international loan and on display at the European Union Ambassador’s residence. This special loan highlights SAMFA’s collection beyond the museum galleries and reflects its growing national and international reach.

One of a Kind: The Art and Music of Bobby Whitlock

Rock musician and songwriter Bobby Whitlock, co-founder of Derek and the Dominos and collaborator with Eric Clapton and George Harrison, presents an interactive exhibition combining visual art, music, and memorabilia. The exhibition is developed in collaboration with Whitlock and his wife and musical partner, CoCo Carmel.

Organized by the Reading Public Museum in Reading, Pennsylvania, this exhibition presents master prints by Albrecht Dürer, one of the most influential artists of the Northern Renaissance.
Laurence Saunois’ Nympheus Luminansis: Water Lilies of Light

This immersive exhibition features luminous water lily imagery by contemporary artist Laurence Saunois. Tour produced by David J. Wagner, L.L.C., with David J. Wagner, Ph.D., serving as Curator and Tour Director.
We the People: Portraits of Veterans in America by Mary Whyte

Acclaimed watercolor artist Mary Whyte presents a powerful series of large-scale portraits honoring military veterans from every U.S. state. The exhibition explores identity, service, and life after military service through deeply personal visual storytelling.
