High school art students will spend the day painting en plein air alongside the Ranch Fellowship Artists, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship while working outdoors.

The public is invited to attend the opening of Spirit of the Ranch, a curated exhibit and sale featuring artwork by all four Ranch Fellows.

In SAMFA’s Grand Hall, additional ranch paintings by the artists will be on view and available for purchase. These are exclusive paintings only on display through Saturday, October 24. Paintings in the Spirit of the Ranch exhibition will be on view and available through January 27, 2027.

Also on view and available for purchase will be paintings by local high school students created during their day painting with the Ranch Fellows.

The Spirit of the Ranch exhibit and sale and the Back Forty Sale continue during regular museum hours.

The four Ranch Fellowship Artists will discuss their time and adventures on the ranches and reflect on their experiences. Moderated by Tim Newton, past En Plein Air Texas juror and judge.

In honor of the more than 100-year history of artists painting outdoors in West Texas, the entire community is invited to participate in a downtown paint-out.

Painters will check in at 9 AM, paint from 10 AM until High Noon, and turn in their work at noon. Awards for best entries in age-based categories will be announced at 1 PM.

The Spirit of the Ranch exhibit and sale and the Grand Hall sale continue during regular museum hours.
