The museum galleries will be closed September 13 - 23, while we change exhibits. Please join us on September 24 at 4 pm for our next exhibit opening of Hand Stitch 2021/Works by Texas Artists and Maurice Schmidt: Daily Life, Holy ExpressionFREE and open to the public.

Opening the same day as Family Fiesta Patrias!

 SAMFA is happy to Introduce Art Thursday...TO-GO! Safely drive through the museum’s parking lot and pick up Art Thursday Packets To-Go. Two, printable activities and additional supplies will be included for FREE each Thursday* this summer from 3 – 6 pm, or until supplies run out. SAMFA staff will safely and hygienically hand packets to you from the safety of your car window. SAMFA Staff will also be wearing masks and gloves at all times, as well as follow social distancing guidelines in order to optimize the safety of Participants and Museum Staff.

*There will be no Art Thursday To- Go on July 8th."

Enjoy the big band music of the West Texas Jazz Orchestra, led by band director James Bode. The West Texas Jazz Orchestra is made up of area high school and junior high band directors, Angelo State University music professors and other musicians. Music selections by composers such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller are featured along with other popular big band and jazz music.

Studio Rio - Weaving & Woodturning

Two local artists will be in Studio Rio giving demonstrations along with their own artisan works on view and for sale. Audrey Legatowicz is a weaver and has a studio out at the Chicken Farm Art Center. Chuck Rood is a woodturner and is a part of the San Angelo Woodturners Association.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts will present a two-day event Friday, September 24 & Saturday, September 25. We will be presenting this in collaboration with the Hispanic Heritage Museum and Cultural Center of San Angelo for a celebration titled FAMILY FIESTA PATRIAS.

On Fri., Sept. 24 from 4 - 8 PM there will be a variety of hands on programs for family & children, refreshments, music, numerous exhibits & art booths.

On Sat., Sept. 25 from 10 AM - 10 PM the day will be filled with family programs, entertainment, food, cooking demonstrations, hands-on activities, artist’s booths & demonstrations that will take place in the museum, on the museum grounds, in the adjacent Old Town historical area & the museum’s buildings on S. Oakes St.
