Art Thursdays are designed to spark creativity in all ages, offering a welcoming space to explore art together. SAMFA’s commitment to art accessibility makes it a perfect afternoon activity for both returning visitors and new families.
This October, we're doing some fun spooky crafts each Thursday such as:
Witch's Hats
Blow-Paint Monsters
Dia De Los Muertos Altar Activity
No age limit! Art Thursdays are for everyone —from ages 3 to 300. Bring friends, bring family, or just bring yourself! Join us in celebrating creativity, connection, and community.
Art Thursdays are generously sponsored by HEB, Sterling-Turner Foundation, and Texas Commission on the Arts.
October 18
Saturday at 10 AM–11:30 AM and 12 PM–1:30 PM
Ages 7-17
$20 per student
Join teaching artists Suzanne Horner and April Tedford for a fun, hands-on clay workshop designed just for kids and teens! In this Family Day class, students will create their very own clay jack-o’-lanterns, learning basic hand-building techniques while exploring their creativity.
This 90-minute class is open to ages 7–17. Students in this age range may attend independently, while children younger than 7 are welcome if accompanied by a parent. All materials are included. Come create with us!
This event runs during SAMFA's monthy Family Day event! Pop in for some ceramic fun at the Clay Studio and then let your creativity run wild right across the breezeway at the Education Studio, where STEAM at SAMFA is hosting Oceanography October. And then on your way out, explore the main museum's exhibits for FREE and pick up your free book in the lobby!

Mark Your Calendar for Free Family Day: Every 3rd Saturday
Join us at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts for a Family Day celebrating the magic of Oceanography! On Saturday, October 18, from 10 AM to 2 PM, families are invited to explore hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and creative projects—all FREE of charge.
Highlights include:
Moving Fish- Create a fish that moves its body
Turtle or Crab- Which is your favorite?
Under the Sea - Create your own scene from the ocean!
Planting Seeds in Biodegradable Pots
Building 3D Animal Models
Bouncy House in the breezeway
Bring the whole family and enjoy a day full of science, creativity, and fun!

Gather your friends or grab your partner for a night of fun at the Concho Clay Studio where Suzanne Horner will instruct handbuilding a chips-and-dip platter! Perfect for a night out or a date night. Beginners encouraged; This workshop is for anybody!
