ArtBeat Duo
• Grace Marín, violin
• Mark Morton, double bass, piano, guitar, and voice
ArtBeat Duo brings a fresh and engaging approach to chamber music, combining exceptional artistry with an adventurous spirit of musical exploration. Founded in 2021 by violinist Grace Marín and multi-instrumentalist Mark Morton, the duo has captivated audiences throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America with performances that seamlessly blend classical music with popular styles and unexpected musical treasures. Their unique instrumentation—featuring violin, double bass, piano, guitar, and voice—allows them to create a remarkably diverse and entertaining concert experience.
Costa Rican-Spanish violinist Grace Marín has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Latin America and served on the faculty of Texas Tech University while completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Mark Morton, Professor of Double Bass at Texas Tech University and former principal bassist of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, is an internationally recognized performer whose career spans classical, jazz, and popular music.
From beloved classical works and Celtic melodies to popular favorites by The Beatles and beyond, ArtBeat invites audiences on a musical adventure filled with virtuosity, humor, storytelling, and surprise. Their philosophy is simple: they do not perform “classical music concerts”—they create musical experiences that connect with everyone.
