Domenico Balli, Texas Sculpture Group

From Houston, Texas

Artist Statement:

I have begun to repurpose wood from felled trees to convert society’s discards into sculptures that encourage discovery and visual attention. And with this process, my goal is the transference of energy that radiates within the artwork, which in turn, radiates its energy to the viewer. The works become an example of a kind of sustainability – there can be beauty and intrigue in something that might end in a landfill.

Artist Biography:

I was born in the state of Washington and raised in South Texas. As a child, I spent my time playing outdoors and exploring the environment which fed my relentless curiosity. During these formative years, a visual and tactile language was formed by my experiences and imagination. With this language, I let my personal mythology influence the direction of my creativity.
