Karen Zimmerly
Collections Manager

Karen has been with SAMFA since 1999. She received her MA in Photography from Humboldt State University at Arcata, California and her BA from Drew University in New Jersey. She maintains a studio and gallery, Art 6 Degrees at the Old Chicken Art Farm Center.







Gracie Fernandez
Executive Assistant/Event Coordinator

Gracie has been with the Museum since 1995 when she started as Weekend Gallery Security Staff. After being promoted to the Gift Shop manager, she is now the Executive Assistant to Howard Taylor. Among other duties, Gracie maintains the Museum Membership and serves as the Events Coordinator.






Jade Norris
Museum Educator

Jade received her BA and MA in Art History from the University of South Carolina and comes to us with a wonderful background in Museum Education. She completed an internship in Education and Public Relations at the Roswell Museum and Art Center in New Mexico.

 

 

Joy Noguess
Graphic Designer/Art Teacher

Joy contributes to the Museum in a variety of ways including designing graphics and invitations, maintaining the website, and teaching art classes. She received her BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in painting and sculpture at the University of Texas at Austin and continues to create and show her art.

 

Martha McCloskey
Bookkeeper

Martha's previous experience includes 21 years at the Tom Green County Library (15 years as Head of Technical Services and 6 years as Associate Director). She brings her experience in nonprofit accounting to the Museum from her years of managing the Library’s financial accounts. She received her BA from the University of Texas at Austin and her Masters in Library Science from University College Dublin in Ireland.



 


Valerie Bluthardt
Program Manager

Valerie has been with the Museum since 1986 when she was “temporarily” hired for a 3 month part time job. She received her BA in History and Political Science from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and her Masters of Liberal Studies with museum emphasis from the University of Oklahoma.

 

Betty Connolly
Gift Shop Manager

Betty has come to SAMFA after running 2 business for 36 years- an insurance agency and an H&R Block Franchise in Kermit, Texas. She also worked at the Gift Shop at Community Hospital for 3 years, and volunteered there prior to coming to manage the Museum Gift Shop.

 



Joel Quintella
Maintenance Chief/Security

Joel has been with the Museum since 2004. He works hard to keep our facilities beautiful and also provides security for the galleries and helps with special event setup and tear-down. In addition to his job with SAMFA, Joel works at Zetner’s Daughters as a butcher and cook.

 

John Mattson
Building Officer/Preparator

John has been with the Museum since 1999. He is head of security and prepares the galleries for exhibitions including hanging and taking down the shows. John received an MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California and MA and BA degrees in painting from Humboldt State University.

 

 


Joan Wenetschlaeger
Receptionist
museum@samfa.org

Joan has been at SAMFA since 2003. She started as a gallery monitor and then moved downstairs to the offices as the Receptionist/greeter/friendly voice you hear when you call the Museum. Before coming to the Museum she worked as an administrative assistant, an apartment manager, and in various other jobs.


 

Sylvia Grimaldo
Weekend Supervisor

Sylvia has been with the Museum since 2003 and does a fabulous job staffing for special events and weekend gallery monitors. When she is not running like crazy at SAMFA events, she works full time at the Shannon Clinic as a Medical Assistant with Dr. Monaghan and has been there since 1983.
