Celebrate Filipino Culture
AT THE sAN anGELO mUSeuM OF fINE arTS
Bring your friends and family to the Art Museum for a Filipino cultural celebration. On Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 10 to 3, families can sample Filipino cuisine including Adobo, eggrolls and fried rice while learning with art and artifacts from the Philippines. Local residents will host a Filipino fashion show at 11:00 a.m. and Filipino dancing at 12:00 p.m. Visitors can also create Filipino-inspired shell art, Filipino weaving, a Sarimanok collage and create a painting after Fernando Amorsolo, a Filipino painter.
Family Days are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month and feature a different culture. September 11 will be our Family Day Mexico celebration! The museum’s regular operating hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for senior citizens. ASU and SAISD students are admitted free as well as museum members and active military personnel.
The museum is supported by contributions from both individuals and businesses. Family Days are generously supported by ETHICON. Family Days are also made possible due to the generosity of individuals and groups in the community. This project is also partially supported by funds from the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council, the City of San Angelo, the Texas Commission on the Arts, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
