Picasso and the Girl
with the Ponytail
LAURENCE ANHOLT
Picasso
and the Girl with the Ponytail – based on true fact – of a little girl whose face and ponytail hair became world famous
when Picasso, the master artist, asked her to model for him. She was a shy, dreamy girl and when Picasso
spotted her, Sylvette, he immediately saw her as his
next subject for his artwork! Over the
summer the relationship grew and Picasso enjoyed his role as a playfully
friendly grandfather-like figure to the girl and later, he helped her establish
herself as a respected artist in her own right.
This story is a great introduction to Picasso and cubism. Your kids will love the rich, colorful illustrations
and the playful character of Picasso.
